Peer Support for Allied Health HDR Students – Thursday Sessions Restarting
Jun 30, 2026
Higher Degrees by Research can be both intellectually rewarding and personally demanding—especially within allied health fields where research often intersects with lived experience, practice realities, and complex systems.
We’re restarting our Thursday afternoon peer support gatherings for HDR students across allied health disciplines (including social work, psychology, nursing, occupational therapy, and related fields). These sessions are a space to connect with others who understand the unique pressures of research, practice, and personal wellbeing.
This is not a formal supervision space. Instead, it’s peer supervision: a collegial, supportive environment where you can:
- Discuss values and ethics
-
Share progress, challenges, and milestones
-
Reflect on the emotional and intellectual labour of research
-
Build accountability and sustain motivation
-
Exchange strategies for writing, fieldwork, and supervision relationships
-
Foster a sense of community across disciplines
Whether you’re just starting out or deep into your candidature, you’re welcome to join.
When: Thursday afternoons (ongoing) 4pm AEST (3.30pm Central time)
Who: Allied health HDR students
Focus: Connection, reflection, and peer support of researchers
If you’ve been meaning to reconnect, or are looking for a steady, understanding peer space—this is a good time to (re)join.
Feel free to reach out or simply come along and introduce yourself and your research. We meet on Zoom:
